Service with a Purpose

1 Peter 4:10

‘As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace.’

We all have gifts and when we have the courage to step out and try to share those gifts whether it be on mission, on stage, on the field or in your local clubs and churches… the cost should not be a barrier. We also don’t think our community should fund these activities without the participant earning the funds and learning what is means to truly be a community. This is where we bridge the gap with a service project. Projects can be as small as cleaning out a neighbors garage or as large as painting a local building. With each hour spent serving others, the participants are not only earning but they are learning. This is imperative for our participants to see that they are supported and encouraged while also being needed in the community. This service-based fundraising journey matters.

WHY WE CHOOSE TO SERVE FIRST…

MOUNTAINS AND MUSTARD SEEDS!!

Here is a message from our founders… Emma & Davis!

Emma’s Story… Mountains

It’s pretty awesome how each of us take something different out of Matthew 17:20! My focus was on the mountain while Davis’ was on the mustard seed. I have learned that faith can move mountains! I have moved those mountains and helped others move their mountains. There are so many times growing up that we have had to overcome obstacles and faced challenges that I have learned to face them differently now. Nothing is impossible and my faith has taught me that! Some of our greatest memories as a family are during tough times when we leaned in, trusted God and moved the mountains in front of us… together! We are better people because we have had to face these mountains and I think it is super important for all of us to learn that obstacles are opportunities for learning and growth. This is why I feel we were called to start ServFirst! If more kids learned that by serving others we can fill our own bucket, we would live in a better world! Serving others feeds my soul in a way like no other and I want to share our love of serving with others. Also, we weren’t meant to do life alone, so we should serve together. This gives us an opportunity to serve the community that supports us! By showing our peers that we can make a difference in our community we are empowering a new generation and teaching them we can make a difference. Thank you for supporting ServFirst and we look forward to serving you in one of our future projects!

Davis’ Story… Mustard Seed

In Matthew 17:20-21 Jesus said to his disciples “if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you.” My faith is greater than a mustard seed for many reasons! My parents prayed for me long before I was placed in my mother’s womb and against all scientific odds, God kept me there safely and I was welcomed into this world and immediately began facing health challenges. My Mom didn’t quit… she prayed, advocated and fought for my health and safety for years! It is scary going through life knowing there are allergens that can kill you… that is until you are old enough to understand God will keep you from harm and protect you now and always wherever you go. This was a game changer! My helicopter mom started to let go and we stepped out on faith as we began to go and do more as a family. Each step along the way, we had to have more faith as we stepped out of our comfort zone in all areas of our life. I am confident God chose my Mom because it was a big job, and I will always be grateful. Now we step out in faith in new ways… we go on mission trips together, serve our community and spend most nights at the ballfield. Some of our best memories are when we serve together. It truly does something to your heart knowing you are helping others! I also know how important it is to support others in what fuels them. The last thing I want to hear is that someone cannot reach a goal because they could not afford it or because they did not have support! I also know that a lot of parents don’t instill a good work ethic in their kids. This is hard because many kids expect others to provide for them and I don’t feel that is the real world. We’ve been raised with a strong work ethic and I think ServFirst gives us the opportunity to show others the importance of serving our community and developing a strong work ethic. I am confident our projects will help others with their goals and maybe even teach them something along the way. All of these stem from my faith… my faith that is greater than a mustard seed!
